...There's a serious debate over whether Pell Grant programs, which fund part of the tuition for the pursuit of a four-year liberal arts degree, should be extended to cover job-oriented skills. .. Serious debate? Seriously? Liberal Arts degree do NOT cover job oriented skills. People (today) with Liberal Arts degrees pride themselves as being CRITICAL THINKERS with absolutely no knowledge or math, science, or business. For some reason, employers do not look at that as a positive.

...after sentencing Mays and Richardson to a minimum of two and one year.... Those low life's should have received 10-20 year sentences, minimum. OH! I forgot! They are football players. Real sentences would have upset all of the Jock Strap worshipers in Ohio. If they had been Basketball players instead, they probably would have been awarded scholarships.
As we used to say: One bullet at a time! The losers in New York voted for this C R A P! Let them live with it. I used to enjoy a trip to Manhattan every year or two. No, more! I do not even want to be close to people that vote for things like this.
I used to smoke but I always: Smoked out doors. Smoked inside my personal vehicle. Smoked inside my own home. I did NOT smoke in a shared common space. Now, I understand, that many smokers did not do that. But, the people that think ALL people who do something should be controlled or punished because SOME people do something wrong, are the kind of people that ALL guns should be banned because SOME people use them to do bad things. I hope you own a gun or an SUV. Because I will SUPPORT with campaign contributions any politician that wants to take your gun and SUV away. I thoroughly believe in treating people just exactly the way that they DESERVE to be treated.
I disagree with article. I used to be an evil 'smoker'! I really enjoyed smoking cigarettes. But, the government made it just too damn hard. No place to smoke. Too many taxes. While the government was doing this, I observed my fellow Americans (and plenty of 'freedom loving' Republicans cheering them on. Now. I take a different view. If some politician, usually , but not always, a Democrat, wants to limit the freedom of others, I CHEER THEM ON. Tax the Twinkies, french fries, the sodas, the BEER, the SUVS! GOOD! Tax them and DEMONIZE the people that use/enjoy them. They either voted for it or thought it was a good idea when they went after the 'smokers'. I love instant Karma!

Time to Grow Up, GOP

It is time of national financial crisis. There are millions of good Americans that cannot find a decent job. As long as GOP voters continue to nominate/elect/support GOP candidates that are all about imposing their religious views on others, the Democrats WIN! I don't like abortion, or gay marriage but Rick (get money for my supporters even if they don't live in my state) Santorum cost more votes than any mistakes made by Mitt Romney. Want to lose an election? Easy just talk about abortion, gays, rape, and contraceptives (?????)! It works for many. They can feel 'righteous' and focus on the evil Dem's instead any possible way to make their lives (and the lives of the people they love) better.
It is simple problem with a simple solution. Problem: Bad teachers hurt our kids! Good teachers pay their union dues to ensure the bad teachers can never be fired. Solution: Acknowledge the teacher's unions are hurting kids and slowly destroying our country and then: Then, we end the unions (including firing every goon teacher that pays dues - they can re-apply for teaching jobs and compete for a change) and then vote out the low life politicians who sell OUR souls for the union goon campaign contributions and GOTV efforts.
8. Millions of baby boomers 'Let Somebody Else Build That!' Lay off their employees, close their small business, or if employed, just retire early. Why continue to work, if you can afford to retire? So, Obama can confiscate more or your money and funnel it to the union goons and Solyndra style backers who fund his campaigns? We used to call it "going Galt", I like 'Let Somebody Else Build That!' much better
Second, Paul Ryan is simply a guy who knows how to do math, something the Obama administration isn't very good at. Worth repeating.
The problem is that too many of your fellow Californians have already woken up.... and fled the state. I saw what was happening years ago and MOVED. It will not begin to get better until after the lights are turned off
