jthepimpernel-Our property taxes are not bad at all. If you file for your homestead exemption they go down even more. Property taxes fund the schools. Some school districts have higher taxes than others. My co-worker has 5 acres and a 2200 square foot house and her property taxes were $2200. I have 30 acres and a 2600 square foot house in a different school district and my property taxes are $5700.

California's property taxes are no bargain. My real estate tax, on a 30% larger home in Arizona went down by 75% vs. California.

I’ve already condemned the foolish people of California for approving a referendum to raise the state’s top tax rate to 13.3 percent.

This impulsive and misguided exercise in class warfare surely will backfire as more and more productive people flee to other states – particularly those that don’t impose any state income tax.
