The denial of inconvenient reality as become the mark , indeed the prerequisite , of being a modern American liberal. Leftist mythology predominates at every institutional level in our society. Good thing for me that I "married into" the African-American community in 1978 and am well acquainted with the reality that things have changed for the better, vastly so, out here on the ground where it matters most.
