There are more than 100,000 public primary, middle and high schools in this country. TSA on the other hand employs around 53,000 as of 2011. Presumably, the same talent pool will provide the new school guards. For all of the accusations of corruption, misconduct, and inappropriate behavior that has plagued the TSA for the last 12 years, go ahead and double that for twice the number of guards. Corruption, scandal and misconduct go with school children like oil and water. Foolish Escalation. Adding more guns to mix will not have a positive effect on the climate that creates monsters. When Rudy Giuliani made his successful campaign to decrease crime in NYC he did so by implementing a policy of cleaning up vandals, vagrants and

A lunatic bent on mass murder in a school who is also a student at that school is in a perfect position to case the weaknesses, behavior of the guards, points of entry and maybe even egress, and points of congregation. It doesn't matter if the guards are ex military or not, if every move is exposed they are at a severe disadvantage.

In UT ANYONE can legally carry concealed in any state school. There are more armed teachers in UT schools than you can shake a stick at. Also admins and janitors. For TEN years now with NO incidents. Bite me.

So just how do you propose keeping armed lunatics bent on mass murder out of schools? I'll bet there are lots of retired military/law enforcement types who would be willing to guard schools for a mere pittance. Heck, I'd do it for free a few days a week.

Graffiti. Years later, New Yorkers are still enjoying the rewards of the policies of his administration. The lesson that can be learned is that negative controls breed negative responses, and positive controls breed positive ones.

I am 100% in favor of RESPONSIBLE gun ownership. I will alway oppose placing armed guards in schools.

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

That statement, from NRA president Wayne LaPierre, was immediately turned into a laugh line by the press, deemed everything from “deadly spin” to “delusional” to “paranoid.” The New York Daily News proclaimed that anti-gun cranks—oops, I mean “mental health experts”—who had never met LaPierre had diagnosed him as crazy.

As someone who went to journalism school and has worked in media for years, I’m used to this. Left-leaning editors and reporters declare what “everyone” knows and “everyone” thinks, while pretending to be...
