In some places, it's not just the criminals. When a society can acquire guns from just about anywhere, the common man if he's a bit rebellious and disrespectful, can act pretty much as he wishes. IMHO, the average Venezuelan is a pretty nice guy but pushed a little and he pushes back.

New York Times: We Deserve the Soda Ban

Meddling do-gooders and irresponsible people are the bane of a free man or woman. Why isn't the NYT preaching self-responsibility? Why isn't it preaching frugality and healthy lifestyles? But, watch the goob step in and try to curtail first amendment rights from stupid editorials, for the good of the citizenry of course, and you'd think the Constitution actually means something to them.
Must really suck to be Chinese living in China and not attuned to the state. No doubt the pinheads in DC are thinking of ways to incorporate similar policies here. In china there has never been the freedoms we enjoy. I wonder how long ours will last?
I've lived in Venezuela and banning gun rights will have NO effect on crimes of gun violence and no effect on crimes of violence generally speaking. Therefore, I'm left wondering what the ulterior motive is. The will to violence comes from within and there are some violent people in Venezuela--as there are everywhere. I imagine the government foresees a need to protect itself from its citizens. In its passionate shortsightedness, it shoots itself in the foot. BTW, Venezuela is infamous for making these moves on a Friday.
Yes, get out and vote!! Exercise your right as a citizen, or if your a dimocrat, your right as a deceased person or an illegal alien. Vote early, vote often, and vote your neighbor's absentee ballot. Speaking of the DOJ, it appears the Edwards verdict is another black eye for Mr Holder's DOJ. Who woulda thunk?

lois, if there is any bombin going on in Iran it will be bunker buster surgical strikes at nuclear material enrichment plants--most of which are buried. You make it sound like we're going to carpet bomb the whole country. I figure we'll find another way. Either through cyberwarfare or sabotage, human and otherwise.

What's the point? The Koch Bros are evil for constructing methanol plants? Come on, Lois, that's a logical fallacy, guilt by implied association. You can do better.
And another California pacificist and extremist rule bites the dust. Congrats to the good law abiding, gun owners of Alameda County. Welcome to the 21st Century with the rest of the country.

Barack Incompetent and his merry gange of statist mental midgets couldn't figure out how to scratch their ears without drawing blood. Obviously they're lying or they're totally out of touch. I'd suggest a little of both because as our first contemporary Socialist president, Obama has always been out of touch. The wisdom of the founding fathers will be proven this November as we peacefully change this regime for something more uniquely American.
