Complaints Mount Against Michelle Obama’s New Lunch Menu

As a retired teacher, I saw children daily that I knew would not have a meal until they saw me again. Many great programs to feed hungry children are around. One is Backpack Buddies or a name similar which sends food home on the weekend. Instead of dictating what we can eat, why not put your power and position behind a proven winner and actually feed kids? I encourage each of you to look around your own communities for an opportunity like this and support it with your time or money. Michelle's plan, should Obama be reelected, is supermarket reform! What the heck is that? I get mad if they move the soup, but I don't think that is what she has in mind.

Maybe we ought to start throw parents in jail who fail to feed their children. The taxpayer provides huge subsidies to poor people so they have enough to eat. If they spend the money on something else and their children are going hungry, parents need to pay. If not jail, remove the flatscreeen, the computer, the cell phone, the xbox, the alcohol, the cigarettes, etc.. If that doesn't work, toss them in jail. Ridiculous

Why were these kids not being fed?

It is the parents' or guardians' responsibility to feed kids, not the school or the government. We need to end the government monopoly over education and wholly privatize it. Competition will drive down costs and quality will go up.

I'm inclined to agree. What you're saying speaks volumes as to the difference between conservative and statist views on government, welfare, etc - genuinely help/lend a hand vs. dictate/foster dependency.
In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations.

Perhaps the real motive is to starve students into slimming down. Just ask students in Pierre, South Dakota who, too, are in an all-out revolt.
