It is hard to see how the Bill of Rights, as written could be applied only to individuals. FIrst and foremost, in guaranteeing free association, it seems clear that the founders understood that some political speech required unified action. Then there's the guarantee of freedom of the press. Freedom of the press, to be meaningful at all, requires that rights be extended to corporate bodies. Any assertions to the contrary simply ignore history and reality. It is virtually impossible, to restrict the political rights of voluntary association, including corporations, without seriously diluting the individual rights guaranteed heretofore. IMHO this amendment will fail.

Well it's hard to take a Judge seriously when he posits: "Among those laws are the state statutes that limit the authority and jurisdiction of local cops to the municipality that employs them..." Actually the States generally empower police with State wide authority, this still leaves the NYPD out of their jurisdiction in NJ, but gathering intwlligence to preven terror acts is not exactly the same as warrantless spying merely to randomly snare criminals.

FYI. The Hurt Locker takes place in the context of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Operation Enduring Freedom is the enduring effort to secure Afghanistan.

Your analysis on the Helicopters is off. A Blackhawk can carry up to eleven soldiers (or SEALs). That would have been too few to properly secure the house and conduct the raid. That said, you are correct, that an intelligence windfall was anticipated; too bad we squandered it by squawking about it immediately.

Paul, when I was in Jr High School, I had very similar opinions about our support for the Shah. Popular opposition doesn't always equal Democracy as we know it!
