improbable situations and loud screams of feigned pain and outrage...

to be honest, can you think of anyone more qualified to join that???
Everybody in these threads get caught up in partisanship and little of value gets discussed. Val, (and her ilk) do us all a favor -- either pose a thought that goes somewhere beyond "OBAMA IS GOD AND BUSH IS SATEN" (spelling intentionally wrong) or run back to HuffPo and let the adults talk.

Now then... I normally love Glenn Beck's work, but I have to respectfully disagree with him on his McCain vs. Obama argument with Katie Couric. Don't get me wrong -- McCain has proven himself inept on too many fronts for me to consider him an able leader for this country. As for my feelings on Bush, I think he meant well, but his own ineptitudes hurt this country in ways we are still feeling now. But the worst damage McCain would do in...
Who cares about the constitution
"Conservatives use the constitution when it's convenient."

We should all care. The more we twist and stretch what it says (and then say that's what it MEANS), the more freedoms we all lose. The original Constitution was designed to give individuals and States infinitely more freedom, more choice and more control than the Government was ever supposed to have.
YOU show me where in any of these bills that someone who is rejected for a claim has the ability to properly and objectively appeal it -- to whom would they do that? While you're at it, find me where it says you can sue the government the way you can sue a private insurer for improperly denying your claim.

Vlad, the idiocy being spewed by Congress right now is only compounded by their arrogance. We have History 101 (SS, Medicare, Amtrak, Post Offices, Cash for Clunkers) and Economics 101 (the law of supply and demand), as well as good old fashioned common sense (tell me how a Washington bureaucrat you will never meet can make better medical decisions about you than you and your doctor), telling us their pie-in-the-sky claims...
While I too question the validity of Obama's birth, I do not consider myself a "birther" nor deluded for questioning it for two reasons:

1) This is supposed to be a completely transparent administration -- Obama said it himself. But not only do we not have a birth certificate, we have very few other documents to prove his background -- Occidental College transcripts. How can something be transparent and yet so unclear?

2) It doesn't really matter to me -- if he is a citizen, we've been put through all this sound and fury when we could have been concentrating on much more crucial problems (of course, he's not looking at them, either). If he's not, I have three words for you -- PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN.

For you TH...
Normally I have few problems with your work, and I seem to be more and more conservative by the day, but I think you're stretching this one -- and certainly giving it more attention than it deserves. Letterman is a royal jerk and a piece of scum -- now on to new business.

He only came clean now because it would have been dragged through the papers later and he would have looked even worse. That said, he DID come clean, which buys him a half-step up on more people than I could name.

He should lose his job over this as much as any boss should lose his job over this kind of behavior. His marriage is up to him and his wife.

The Real Cost of Health Care "Reform"

"Hmmmmm. I notice that the good folks over at the Weakly Standard never have complained about the cost of the Neocon Wars or negative impact upon our freedom that they have caused."

And the troll-boys swing their clubs and think it means something.

I assume, Cicero, you are referring to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, neither of which your chosen one's gilded tongue has done anything to stop. (And no, the plan to leave Iraq in 2011 doesn't count, since Bush had planned that one already) As a matter of fact, he's even sending MORE troops to prepare for a SURGE in Afghanistan, even though he had a bug up his butt about the Iraq surge (which worked).

Also, hold onto your fantasies all you like, but the lie...
First of all, if you're right and Meredith lifted the opening from someone else, you're right to call her on it. The whole business this afternoon with the fake press conference for the "US Chamber of Commerce" has shown that the standards for journalism have fallen apart, and plagiarizing does not help matters.

However, at no point is Bloom "praising Mao," nor did Meredith state in the article that he did. But his statements are practically straight out of the "power to the people" playbook and show an almost criminal lack of grasp on basic business principles.

If Bloom wants to be a Mafia boss, that's up to him. Gouging further profits out of companies already at incredible risk is simply irresponsible behavior. ...
When I was younger and less informed, I admit I thought Bush was involved as well. Since I've gotten better-informed over the years, I've ruled that out. How? Let's look carefully at the 9/11 Truther argument in context.

First of all, a healthy percentage of the Obama administration (I don't know the perfect numbers, but I know the incumbency problem) was also part of the Bush administration. For 2007 and 2008, the Bush-bashers were in power in both houses of Congress and Bush was practically impotent to stop them, which should explain a great deal. Now, up until last week, the "bash Bush" party held unbeatable majorities in both houses on Congress, and their poster boy is the most powerful man on Earth. Since then, after...

ACORN: Don't believe your lying eyes

If you are so intent on attacking the filmmaker who did this and on exonerating a group that was willing to blatantly aid and abet this type of criminal activity and use our tax dollars to do it, I can only assume you have no children. No decent parent with a shred of dignity could support a group willing to help bring these things into their neighborhood.

Fortunately, you're following the biggest truth I've learned in my life: Stupid people shouldn't breed. Unfortunately, being stupid, they're usually more likely to breed.

SENSIBLE dissenting voices are welcome here. I'll leave it you to read that and figure out why you're not welcome.
