The Newtown Massacre and the Pain of God

Dr. Brown, thank you for this article. Our pastor addressed this horrific tragedy over the weekend. Is God hurting over this? Absolutely. Where was God? He was right where He has always been, pleading with us (as He has been since eternity began) to not kill each other. He wants us to draw people to Him and reconnect with His Word. How do we make sense of a senseless act? I don't know that we can, but those of us who are left behind to suffer desperately need to turn to God for comfort. We need to pray first for the families and friends of those victims, and second for those who are doubting or questioning Him, that all of them may find truth and comfort in His Word and in the promises that He has made and kept.
