I watch The Big Bang Theory and the only thing that really irks me about it is how they mispronounce the word "coitus" in every episode. The word is pronounced co-it-us. It is three syllables, not two. You pronounce the "co" like you would in "co-operate" or "co-ordinate". You do NOT put the "o" and the "i" together to make an "OY" sound.

Sheldon mispronounces many words. It is part of the humor of the character. He is supposed to be a brilliant scientist with Asperger's syndrome. He displays many of the characteristic behaviors of the disorder. If you are not familiar with the disorder, I would suggest you look it up.

If you stopped watching network television awhile ago because it had gotten so bad, you made the correct decision. It has continued to get worse. A few years ago, network television became dominated by cheaply made reality TV shows and talent contests, sitcoms with hyperactive manic characters, and socially liberal themes. Television has always pushed the edge when it comes to socially progressive themes. But at what point does it go too far? Perhaps when there are no other options left during prime time network TV.
