Kids didn't start packing on the pounds until some time around the 1980's when home computers, video game systems, and other electronic gadgets took them away from physical play. Parents threatening to sue kids sports associations like Little League and Pee Wee Football if their kid falls down and hurts himself are also taking their toll because these organizations have to take out bigger and bigger insurance policies every year which takes money away from the games the kids play. Unsafe inner city schools and playgrounds also have a hand in the increasing number of housebound kids who are terrified for their lives to go outside to play.

Labor Unions have officially killed off the Twinkie. The company that makes the yummy treat announced today they will start to downsize operations (a.k.a. fire people) as a result of a long battle with union workers.

Hostess Brands Inc., the bankrupt maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, said it had sought court permission to go out of business after failing to get wage and benefit cuts from thousands of its striking bakery workers.
