It sounds like the marriage was over for all practical purposes 2 years ago when they separated. While the timing of the announcement is a bit awkward, it's not as if he got remarried while still married to his first wife. It was just an announcement that he was engaged. Who knows why he never "officially" got divorced sooner and who really cares? This is such a non-story.

In the context of world practices today it would look insignificant. Dinesh is supposed to be about something better, much better. To dumb down the much better thing is counter productive.
