Doers vs. Undoers

that the policies and programs that the "undoers" wish to undo have proven themselves ultimately far more destructive of American liberty, prosperity, and security than the very problems which those policies and programs sought to mitigate ever could have been if left unremediated?

For example, which is worse: the absence of Social Security and Medicare coverage for the aged who made the decision to live beyond their means when they were still capable of earning a living, i.e., for those who failed to save and unwittingly contributed to one source of our nation's current economic debacle, or a country so financially strapped as to be unable to defend its citizens and resources from ever-present foreign enemies?
