gwharpo, I like being a Texan because I can be exceedingly polite. I can say "Yes Ma'am" and "Thank you, Sir" to someone 1/3 my age without raising an eyebrow. Try that in New Yawk or Philly without getting yelled at (or worse) because you are "dissing" them.
gwharpo, While I would love to agree with you, I cannot. The U.S. Constitution regulates and restricts the FEDERAL Goobermint only. It was inproperly extended to cover the individual state governments by an out-of-control Supreme Court. Therefore, individual states ought to be perfectly within their rights to regulate guns. That being said; any state that regulates guns is not serving their population well unless that population voluntarily gives up their rights to bear arms via the democratic process. Then they would have no one to blame but themselves.
I did a WHOIS lookup on this domain, and the owner of record (in China) is associated with over 200 domains. As soon as one domain is unplugged because it is a malware infection point, another one will pop up to take its place. Shame on Town Hall for allowing this to go on.
Without really identifying the root cause, they couldn’t tailor a cure – so they used the shotgun approach. AZT is a cocktail of Cancer drugs that (among other things) destroys the immune system. Now AIDS “infections” became a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you are identified with HIV but have no symptoms, take AZT to protect yourself against AIDS and voila! You lose your immune system, therefore you must have AIDS! BTW, AIDS in Africa was found to be nothing like the AIDS in America. Really! But when the AIDS funding spigot is wide open, only a fool wouldn’t call his disease AIDS.
The predicted tsunami of AIDS never materialized, so they claimed HIV is a “retrovirus” with a long incubation period. Never mind that there has NEVER been a proven link between a retrovirus and the disease it was supposed to cause. When that didn’t materialize (remember Magic Johnson?), they started adding diseases under the AIDS umbrella so it could affect the population as a whole.
Their charge is that AIDS was never researched properly using the standard Scientific Method. Instead, research-funding politics and gay-rights politics steered the research and the conclusions. There were too many taboos to prevent them from fingering the lifestyle of AIDS patients (homosexual males deeply involved in the “Gay lifestyle” of rampant anonymous sex and massive drug use). Because of these taboos, the health experts proclaimed it the next the next Universal Plague.
AmyDB, Answer, K’ssandra, Godzilla, etc.: I worked all day yesterday and missed this entire discussion. Now there are about 40 pages of discussion (and most of that cannot be accessed any more) and I did not go back to see if what I am about to bring up has already been discussed. I have a book printed in ’94 called WHY WE WILL NEVER WIN THE WAR ON AIDS (Google this). It rips the health research community (that the authors are a part of) for jumping the gun on disease outbreaks with “answers” that are anything but settled science. It doesn’t even focus on AIDS until about 40% into the book.
olerocker wrote: "Joel Osteen is a motivation speaker, not at preacher..." Yet he and his wife carry the title "Pastor." He speaks in a "Church" in Houston, which is seen in his daily television broadcasts. I saw Chris Wallace interview them on Fox News Sunday a few weeks ago, and when asked for answers to hard questions, he hemed and hawed. You are correct, he really is just a motivational speaker. He certainly doesn't teach the WORD.
from the article: "The Democratic Party opposes education vouchers, despite polls showing that black and Hispanic inner-city parents want them." Care to know why? Teachers Unions with their enormous contributions outweigh the Blacks' desires for better education because Blacks are only good for votes. LBJ was right. With the "Great Society" handouts (paid for by ALL taxpayers, not just Democrats), the Dems have locked up the Black vote forever. I would call that forcing the Blacks to sit at the back of the bus. Thank you, Mr. Elder, for pointing this out.

Sorry, but I disagree. If they want to practice Socialism, let THEM move to where it is still practiced. Cuba and North Korea would welcome them with open arms.
