In response to:

Why Republicans Are to Blame for the Fiscal Cliff

Again, this is soooo simple people. The Republicans need to let Obama have everything he wants except for treaties and appointments. Obama wants more taxes, vote present. Obama wants to spend more, vote present. But the key is to raise holy hell all the while doing it. Every time a Republican gets in front of a microphone, only talk about how you gave Obama what he wanted and it's not working and you are against it but the only reason you leat him have it was so he would have to OWN it. Talk about nothing else. Just say we're letting Obama and the dimwits have their plan, no obstuctions. It will get horribly worse and Obama and the dims will have to accept it. Sometimes the children need a little punishment and tough love to see the light.

I like the sentiment, but the House controls the purse strings, no? I wouldn't budge on the taxes. Keep the tax rates for everyone, unless Obama budges on tax reform and/or entitlement. Let the stupid fiscal cliff come and go, then negotiate tax reduction for all. Republicans have to show that Obama is unwilling to negotiate, and is prepared to raise taxes on everyone simply because he wants an ineffective, punitive tax an a handful of rich people and small businesses. If he won't agree to real entitlement or tax reform, go over the cliff. But you have to pin it on him. What is Obama's plan? Every Republican should just repeat that over and over. Answer no questions, offer nothing. Ask: What is Obama's plan?

John W11, apparently you and I are the only ones who understand this. By not doing exactly that, the Republicans are going to guarantee they WILL lose the House in 2014 because they will be seen as the obstructors. There is no other path than for Repubs to cross their arms and let it all happen--exactly what the ignorant American brainwashed sheeple wished on themselves. Then out of the ruins we can rebuild this country. Yeah its going to be tough but I see it as the only way.
America is about to plunge over the so-called fiscal cliff -- and Americans are fighting mad about it. According to the latest polls, 77 percent of Americans believe that the fiscal cliff -- a combination of automatic tax increases and spending cuts set to kick in at the beginning of 2013 -- will hurt them personally. A full 70 percent of Americans want a compromise solution. And 67 percent believe that political leaders will act like "spoiled children."

Most important, though, Americans blame Republicans for the situation. While just 34 percent of Americans blame President Obama for the current fiscal cliff...
