The Republicans' Primary Problem

Great article Ann. We get frustrated because Obama is worse than Carter and he never should have won. Why did he win? People point to minorities and say that republicans need to do a better job "reaching out" to them. BS. Minorities voted for Obama because they have been turned into a bunch of racists by the Democrat propaganda machine. I see my fellow hispanics talking about Obama like he is "one of us" simply because he is not white (or only 50% white). Same for Asians and Blacks. There's nothing Romney could have said or done to win over such racists. Take the Asians. WTF! They are affluent, hard working, loved by republicans, and the Democrats actively discriminate against them with affirmative action. Yet they voted Dem!

Having just lost an election, many Republicans are anxious to remake our party in the image of Democrats. The theory seems to be that whatever we're doing isn't working, so we better change everything.

But in fact, whatever Republicans did in 2012 -- other than an overly long primary fight -- worked amazingly well, given the circumstances.

In a detailed analysis of the 2012 election, William A. Galston, a fellow with the liberal Brookings Institution, makes a number of fascinating observations that Republicans would do well to consider before embracing amnesty, abortion, gay marriage and Beyonce.
