Obama's Popularity With Young Voters

These kids are destroying their own futures. No only will they be saddled with the current debt, less freedom, and a poorer more vulnerable economy and nation, any money they might have inherited from their indulgent parents will be eroded if not destroyed by inflation. It was a horrible mistake to lower the voting age. It should be raised to 25 at least. Kids don't know anything about much of anything until they have been out working in the real world for some time. After a decade or so in the real world, we still don't know much, but we develop a little common sense.

It's also true that the young people today have been given everything and don't know what it's like to have to work hard for it.Obama has won them over by offering all the freebees. The young don't think about the harm this does to our country.

Why would young people support a party that thinks this?

I just had a conversation with an 18 year old who told me he was voting for Obama because his teacher told the entire class they should. His teacher went over point by point why Obama is a good president.

I tried to talk to this young man and clear up every wrong idea his teacher had 'fed' the class. He went away looking confused. I have no idea is I got through to him or not.
The liberal indoctrination he had recieved at public school was deeply ingrained.

Why do his parents have him in public school? It's their fault for letting that happen.

Editor’s note: A version of this article first appeared at Forbes.com.

According to a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, Americans under the age of 30 favor President Barack Obama over Mitt Romney by almost a two-to-one margin. This is a startling statistic. What explains the lopsided support for President Obama among younger Americans?

I think the two main reasons are ideological and personal.

It’s no revelation to say that young people tend to be more liberal about issues like the redistribution of wealth. You may have heard the old adage, “Anyone who is not a socialist when he is 20, has...
