Irrational Reliance on Higher Powers

We do not want the Federal government to help private charities, it only corrupts them. The only thing the Federal government should do is throw away the tax code, adopt the Fair tax and end welfare in all of its forms. The prebate provides income for those smart enough to fill out a simple tax form. Private charities can take care of those who can't. Keep it simple, transparent and uniform.

I see two major steps that need to be implemented. First is to adopt the Fair Tax as you stated which will do away with the Marxist income tax. The second is to begin to eliminate all programs that fail to comply with the Constitution. The second step will be aided by the first step because everyone who has legal income will take home 100% of their pay but then with every purchase they will see how much the federal government is stealing from them. Every sales receipt will be an incentive to howl against government spending. As the federal government spending shrinks more money can be applied to the national debt.

Once the government has been returned to just those items listed in the Constitution and the debt paid, the federal sales tax rate can be lowered. Our federal government did well when it spent just 3 % of GDP on average so a 3% federal sales tax should be enough with only legal spending.

All of the above is possible but only if the majority of voters will educate themselves about the Fair Tax and the limits that exist in the Constitution and then force their elected officials to follow the wishes of the voters. We The People have to take back our government and make it "By The People" again. We The People must bind the lawmakers and ourselves to the Constitution.

It has taken generations to get into the mess we are in and it will take generations to return to a legal government but this generation must begin the long journey. In my opinion the right path begins with learning about and then passing the Fair Tax. Take time to learn about the Fair Tax at and then start insisting that your family and friends do the same. It is only though knowledge and action that We The People can get back a limited government.

Oops! I need to add another two steps. Return to the gold standard and add term limits.
As Washington staggers into a new year, one side of the political spectrum polarizes and paralyzes all ongoing debates due to its irrational reliance on a higher power.

The problem isn’t religious conservatives and their abiding faith in God; it’s mainstream liberals and their blind confidence in government.

Consider the current dispute over the right response to gun violence. At its core, this argument comes down to a visceral disagreement between relying on self-defense or on government protection. Gun-rights enthusiasts insist that the best security for law-abiding citizens comes from placing formidable firearms into their hands; gun-control advocates believe...
