Anybody remember this column from about 10 years ago? I do. It was even reprinted in the book, "Controversial Essays" (HOOVER INST PRESS PUBLICATION). Not that I don't like rereading such things, but should there be a disclaimer attached here ala Ann Landers.

The process of obtaining money under the $10K limit is known as "structuring" and is illegal if it is proved that you are doing this to circumvent the applicable reporting laws. Such cases are brought frequently against drug dealers and their suppliers of high dollar consumer goods.
