Every sitting senator or representative should be primaried in every race they enter. We need to get rid of all career politicians. If we can't get term limits passed, then we need to limit them at the ballot box.

Allen West Betrayed

I would rather it was President Allen West, but I will vote his ticket any time. He is what our country needs desperately right now.
Amen
You apparently have never lived in the South either, but trust Hollywood to tell you how we live down here.
No, he was impeached for lying under oath, not diddling an intern.

Georgia Boy, I appreciate your comments, but I don't characterize the Military as a social program. A social program infers assistance for a disadvantaged group whereas Military service is service to the country and requires true faith and allegiance in return. I am not a combat veteran, but I am prior service, and there is a difference between welfare and remuneration. (no I don't claim veteran's benefits)

Probably because the Veteran earned it.

The Nobel Prize IS a liberal popularity contest, at least you got that right. Krugman is a Keynesian and therefore a lock for the Nobel Prize, even though those economic models have been proven false countless times. There are a lot of veterans that are denied care by the bureaucracy of the VA. The very nature of the government breeds inefficiencies. Veterans would be better served with private options. Our Vets deserve the best care for the rest of their lives, no matter where that care takes place, Walter Reed or MD Anderson, we owe them. And when a Vet cannot get care because a functionary says that care is not covered, we as a nation have failed in our payment of a debt we owe to those that fight for our freedoms.
Risk his career? You have to be kidding me. JoPa was the most powerful man in the Penn State administration. He making millions and the President making only hundreds of thousands. If Paterno wanted this investigated and charges filed, it would have happened. He knew this pederast for 35 years and he chose PSU over justice and he waited 2 days to tell anyone what that wimp of an assitant told him. (Why that 240 pound coach did not beat the ever living crap out of an old man raping a boy, I will never understand.) JoPa had a duty and it was not to cover this up. Good riddance, I say, and it sounds like it was 12 years too late.

7.1 in 1980 and 5.5 in 1988 I meant to say, not the average of their respective terms. And the numbers are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics not from me. But going from a high in Dec of 82 of 10.8 down to 5.3 in Dec 88 indicates he was doing something right.
