Maybe this belief is prevalent in the black comunity? Considering that 72% of all black children are born to parents who are not married, someone has to raise these children. Raising children is too difficult a task to be left up to one parent.

As a mother, I was fascinated to learn from Melissa Harris-Perry that my husband and my children aren't really ours:
