It would be a leap of faith. The one thing unstated is whether a one time fluctuation of cortisol functions the same as a long term fluctuation. You simply cannot assume its the same. A one term applicaiton of tequila to your liver is quite different than a lifetime of drinking margaritas.

Sorry, if Akin can refer to a 1970's report by Willke, then this is easily as valid. WIllke, remember, wrote that teh odds agaist against imprenation in rape were "millions and millions one." Regardless, if the topic was investigated then the results of that investigation would be available. This one ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8765248) concludes that just over 30,000 pregnancies result from rape each year. (Seems really high to me) Are 30,000 pregnancies rare? Several other analyses suggest that rape produces more pregnancies than consensual sinlge acts fo intercourse. The details are outlined at http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/context-and-variation/2012/08/20/here-is-some-legitimate-science-on-pregnancy-and-rape

The study isnt' false, the conclusion drawn is unsupported. Rape was not mentioned, was not an intended object of study. One simply can't conclude that the results fof this study are applicable to rape.
I'll take my chances. By the way. They aren't babies.

Not sly at all. I have been quite clear in saying that you and those who want to force government to play a role in a personal tragedy like this are fascists.

This is not a political position. It's not a policy decision. The is a fundamental philosophical belief. If you believe one day that aborting the result of a rape is a murder, you can't just change that belief the next day because you sign on with a different political group.

You may not agree with it, but the implication is quite clear. If a woman is raped and ends up pregnant, there will necessarily be a question in the minds of some (right wingers) whether she was really raped. Even Akin describes it as the exception.

I am quite happy to let this play out in the minds of those conservatives who actually think. I have no hope of convincing any of the redneck true believers, and wouldn't want to.

As I said to dear LInda before. The answer is obvious from the ill informed and blatantly racist posts here on TH. Romney will never get Hispanic votes. He will not get Black votes. He is rapidly working on alienating the women's vote as well.
