Hold on, right from the outset you have a problem. "Reasonable restrictions on the 2nd Amendment" is a nonsensical assemblage of unrelated words. The 2nd Amendment is plain, that "the right to keep bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED", in any way, even by "reasonable restrictions." You are certainly entitled to believe in "reasonable restrictions" on guns, but you must AMEND the Constitution to do that. Until your advocacy is predicated on amending the 2nd Amendment, what you are actually advocating is to ignore, disdain, and violate the Constitution, which is the very definition of treason. If you complain that amending is too hard, too bad, try harder, THAT'S THE POINT of having a Constitution; it's no excuse for ignoring it.

I stand out among my conservative friends in disliking guns. I favor reasonable restrictions on the Second Amendment, such as bans on fully automatic weapons, background checks for purchases and forbidding the sale of guns to those with histories of mental illness or criminality.

Yet I cannot agree with liberals that more gun control will lead to fewer gun crimes.
