His 100,000 teacher job, more public worker is the same ploy that Union management uses. More votes for those who promise more. The Democrats have always promised to meet the demands of those who vote for them in order to secure their votes. Public Worker Unions should be disbanded. They are the bane of the common people, who in truth have no say in their demands. In spite of the fact that they like the politicians are employees of the people. A good start should be the SEIU.

Public worker unions are the reason taxes are so high and (especially) the reason public schools in general are awful.

Manufacturing unions are 90% of the reason so many of those jobs have gone overseas.

Actually, that's not entirely fair to Carter. His budget deficits were minuscule next to Obama's, and in response to the Soviet attack on Afghanistan he began the defense buildup that Ronald Reagan accelerated.
