As usual, a column on legalization fails to address several important questions:

What drugs will be legalized?
How will they be marketed?

If we are going to legalize only marijuana - then the cartels will continue to thrive smuggling coke, meth and heroin. So for Stossel to realize his pipe dream, all drugs must legalized.

How will they be marketed? You can't make them all off-the-shelf products, like aspirin - because cocaine, meth and heroin can kill with one use. Put them behind the counter and sell only to those over 18 or 21? How many underage drinkers and smokers do we have - they will acquire hard drugs in the same fashion. And you can't make them all prescription drugs - for no MD could ever ethically...

Don't forget the Medicaid scam. Obama's bill requires the states' Medicaid programs to increase coverage to 150% of poverty line. A few states are already at 150%, but most are well below that number. Where are the states, many of which are already in dire financial straits, going to get the funds to pay for this increase in coverage? From increased state income taxes, sales taxes and property taxes - which are conveniently omitted from Obama's healthcare financial calculus.
