Romney’s comments are correct, irrespective of what might have been cut but let’s ask a simple question. If the 47% were the total US population what kind of country would we be? A happier prospect, what if it were populated solely by the other 53%? A realistic and desirable winning strategy is for Romney to target that hopefully significant portion of the 47% who hope to join the 53!

The videos of Mitt Romney's remarks at a May fundraiser, released in full by Mother Jones yesterday, omit "one to two minutes" of the candidates remarks, the journalist who obtained the video told POLITICO. The omission comes between parts one and two of the video, following Romney's now famous remark that "“there are 47 percent who are with [President Barack Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims” and who would never vote for him.
