Another insightful article as usual Jeff. For those who doubt the truth of your observations just watch what happens if the government should suddenly announce tomorrow that the IRS and all law enforcement are indefinitely suspended from duty. "Lord of the Flies" anyone?

Old and Worn Out? Why Not Suicide?

Thanks Ken for your defense of life. For me the issue is pretty simple. If you believe that this is the only existence there is and you are completely in charge of it, then it is easy to rationalize suicide, abortion etc. . If you believe however that there is another life after this one and that God is in charge, then the sanctity of life that He created and even the suffering that it sometimes entails has value and meaning. For a good take on this view, read the wonderful online article, "Death Dignified by Christ" from First Things magazine.
Same-sex "marriage" is really an oxymoron. From antiquity marriage has always been the union of two different genders and no philosopher since antiquity has ever advocated such a ridiculous notion. It's like claiming that girls should now be allowed to be boy scouts. All same-sex "marriage" will do is redefine natural marriage out of existence. For instance how about a little incest added to the mix? Is there any reason now that two brothers should not be able to marry each other ? Or why shouldn't a so called bisexual be allowed to marry both a man and a woman? And how about redefining other terms associated with marriage. We all know how two heterosexuals consummate a marriage. So how do two lesbians consummated a marriage?

I don't understand why there is even a debate about this. Saying that homosexual parenting is exactly equivalent to natural and traditional heterosexual parenting is like saying homosexual penile-anal sex is exactly equivalent to natural and traditional heterosexual penile-vaginal sex. Our bodies and nature tell us otherwise and when it comes to our families, so do our children. Mr. Jackson is exactly right.

America's Moral Schizophrenia

Don't we all believe in the "Golden Rule"? Shouldn't we "do unto others", even the unborn, as was done unto us when we were the unborn? It's really that simple. Who knows whether someone will grow up in misery or not? At least they will have life and a chance to make something of it. The alternative is death with no chance at all. If "a miserable life" is the index of whether life is worth living or not, then someday the government might justify killing you at any stage of your life because they think you are miserable. And they will say they are doing you a favor. Stay tuned.
The abortion debate should really be very simple. When you abort a human being you either burn them to death or crush them to death or dismember them to death. The Golder Rule stipulates that we should do unto others ( embryos, fetuses and babies) what was done unto us when we were embryos, fetuses and babies. We are all human beings, just at different stages of life. Abortion is basically another simple example of the strong killing the weak. The strong do it because they can and the weak can't stop them. The only chance that the weak have when they are suppressed or murdered is the hope that the strong have a conscience. T
It's the usual word play using euphemisms to make unpalatable things more palatable. Euthanasia becomes, "Death with Dignity". Pedophile sex with children is morphing into "intergenerational intimacy". The advocates who propose killing defective or unwanted babies after they are born speak of the act as merely a "post natal abortion". And now any and every kind of relationship that is deemed loving and committed will be touted as an example of "marriage equality". If am a bi-sexual and want to marry both a man and a woman, why can't we do so if we claim love and commitment to each other. Marriage will become anything and nothing. As marriage goes, so goes the family. As the family goes, so goes the nation. I am not optimistic.
