I'm not sure he is, although he's certainly smart enough. You all know what they say about "assume"? It appears that Mr. Root is assuming that Leftists have the same objectives normal people do. They don't. Think for a second -- the Golden Age for Dems is the great Depression. They enacted hundreds of programs which increased the size and power of the federal govt, but only hurt the economy. Even in 1938, when a Cabinet member noted that they'd spent millions and accomplished no economic improvement, the Dems did not change course. Because they are Socialists. Socialists want to destroy the private economy. Every business that fails leaves a vacuum for govt to fill. Every guy who loses a job is a potential welfare drone or govt employee.

The reason the GOP keeps getting bambozzled in negotiating with Dems is that they beleive the Dems share their goals. They do not. Leftists hate America -- culture, society, religion, morality, history, and, most of all, white people. If GOP politicians can't figure out any good arguments to oppose tax increases, I’ll give them a few.

First of all, Obama and the Democrats argue that the wealthy don't pay their "fair share." Really? The top 1% pay 40% of all the taxes. That's not "fair?" They also account, according to the New York...
