Its not because to right wing you commie. This is standards mr. elitist. Which apparently your pea brain can't comprehend that it just another word for NO COMPETITION! No competition breeds dolts like you instead of ppl offering the BEST to those willing to pay for it. Common core standards = teach to the dumbest kid in the class, teach big government socialist ideas, teach divisive multiculturalism instead of common culture and language with respect for other cultures! Elitists don't understand the term 'what have you done for me lately?' . They accomplish some trivial thing 20 yrs ago and expect tenure for the rest of their lives. Kinda like musicians with the whole RIAA.

May your chains rest lightly on you when you submit to your imminent slave status.

Hate to tell you this but liberals rarely get higher education. They end up with liberal arts degree which require no math or science, just plenty of pot smoking and little bathing. Conservatives go into Math, Physics, Engineering and Science. If you want you can dumb down education, but that only drags more libs down. Eventually you guys will be to stupid to pull the lever to vote, so keep it up we will win.

"The education of this country has gone steadily downhill..."

Yes; and you can thank that very radical, liberal teachers' union! They have been in charge of teaching our children for decades the overreaching and heavy-handedness of the federal Dept. of Education. Give the power back to the local districts; allow for ineffective teachers to be fired and replaced; get the DoE's greedy fingers out of every aspect of the school day, so that common sense replaces "zero tolerance" and "sex education/social engineering" and everything else (except actual learning) that abounds in schools. How much of each day is wasted on social-modifications and indroctrinations?

Hey, dumbf**k....I'm a Republican and I happen to believe in evolution. I think the Big Bang was God's "Let there be light" said in the most powerful and eloquent way.

You elitist snobs who are nothing but know-it-alls are what's wrong with America.

Incidentally, I didn't go to college. I didn't need to in able to do what I wanted to do in life. But guess what? I'm happy, I do a job I love, (what I've wanted to do since I was a kid), I make good money, and I resent governmnet, (or anyone else), prying into my life. So please take your snarky sanctimonious horse dung someplace else, where maybe the low-information entitlement class might give a rat's a$$.
(This is the fourth installment of a continuing series on nationalized academic standards known as the "Common Core.")

While many Americans worry about government drones in the sky spying on our private lives, Washington meddlers are already on the ground and in our schools gathering intimate data on children and families.

Say goodbye to your children's privacy. Say hello to an unprecedented nationwide student tracking system, whose data will apparently be sold by government officials to the highest bidders. It's yet another encroachment of centralized education bureaucrats on local control and parental rights under the banner of "Common Core."

As the American Principles Project,...
