If a progressive politician is a scum bag in his personal life then Democrats, the mainstream media, and many independents will make excuses for his behavior and say that his personal behavior has nothing to do with his job performance. Bill Clinton is only one of many examples of this. Marion Barry was reelected as mayor after getting arrested for purchasing cocaine. But if a Republican commits a personal transgression EVERYONE crucifies him -- including fellow Republicans.
