Eat the Rich

I often hear this liberal argument that the poor, while not paying income tax, pay a higher percentage of their income in the form of the payroll tax. Over the long run (i.e. over the course of a person's lifetime) this is patently untrue. With respect to the payroll tax the poor during their retirement collect MUCH more in social security than they paid in taxes over their working years. The middle class collects moderately more than they put in. And the wealthy receive much less than they put in -- plus their social security checks are taxed. So the payroll tax over the long run is not a "tax" on the poor, in fact it is another form of government redistribution of wealth.

2 years ago my family went on a Mexican Riviera Cruise. When we got to Mazatlan my wife and I had the same first reaction: "We have arrived in downtown Los Angeles"!

I wonder if schools in China use significant time in the classroom teaching their students to hate their country and how to put condoms on cucumbers? I wonder if students in Japan or South Korea who physically assault their teacher are put back into the same classroom within a week? I wonder if high schools in Switzerland graduate students with 4.0 grade point averages who have to take remedial classes in college because they have no idea how to write an essay with a thesis sentence or to do basic Algebra?

New Heroes vs. Old

I am a physician. In the past I worked at county hospitals and VA Hospitals in several different states. In my more than 25 years of experience I have NEVER seen a patient starving due to poverty. Ask any physician or nurse -- the main nutritional issue with poor patients in this country is obesity. NONE of the hospitals I have worked at have ever turned away a patient due to lack of funds. People in this country who are seriously ill and uninsured/indigent get better medical care than people in other countries with "universal health care". As far as the homeless is concerned, the vast majority have serious psychiatric and/or substance abuse problems. It is the PROGRESSIVES who instituted such rigid laws to protect their "rights"...

Boxer's Fiction vs. Fiorina's Facts

I would love to see Boxer ousted, but Fiorina is NOT the real (conservative) thing. During the CA Republican primary she pretended to be strong on securing the border, but right after she won the primary she was telling Hispanic groups that she is for "comprehensive immigration (a code word for amnesty).

Politics Versus Gold

That may be true, but up until President Johnson the fiscal policies of post war Democrats more closely resembled those of what we would now consider conservatives. For example, President Kennedy resolved the recession that occurred during his term in office by cutting marginal tax rates. President Clinton, whose economy current day liberals like to cite, had his spending constrained by a Republican congress for 6 out of his 8 years in office. What most studies REALLY show is that the country fiscally does best when the President and the congressional majority are from different parties. Probably because even conservatives who allegedly support smaller government (like President Bush) tend to spend excessively when congress hands...
I am a registered Republican and a conservative, but I NEVER believed the allegations about the Kenyan birth certificate. If Obama was born in Kenya, then don't you think that the Clinton's political machine would have uncovered and released evidence of that during the 2008 Democrat primary race?

Bennett Feels Brunt of Club for Growth

1. A major local issue in Utah is nuclear waste. A couple of years ago the federal government wanted to "temporarily" ship waste from nuclear reactors throughout the country to Utah and then store it above ground in containers with no security but a chain link fence. This was almost universally opposed by Utah residents of all political views -- conservative and liberal, Republican and Democrat. Bob Bennett was one of the few Utah supporters of the initiative, because he received huge donations from the nuclear waste storage company that stood to benefit.

2. When the Republican congress in 2005 tried to reform Fannie and Freddie by mandating greater reserves Senator Bennett -- the largest congressional Republican recipient...
