This country had far more influence on other countries when it was simply an example of good government. When we decided to start actively interfering with other governments we started losing support even from formerly friendly nations. When Reagan left office, George H. W. Bush was handed a golden opportunity and blew it. When Clinton left office he was able, with the insistence of conservatives in congress, to leave George W. Bush a golden opportunity. And, George W. Bush with the help of fiscally irresponsible Republican and Democrat Congresses blew it. This country is not corrupt but the political parties are both corrupt. The teachings of Christ and Mohammed are 180 degrees apart. The success of this country and the failure of Islamic nations rests on the moral positions espoused by each. Unfortunately, we have been moving toward the more evil of the two positions.

I can't understand why the republicans have not exploited the video clip showing Barney Frank demonizing the overseer of Freddie and Fannie who appeared before the committee. Just showing this would have exposed what the democratic party is guilty of and would have placed Barney Frank and Chris Dodd as the villains responsible for the meltdown in the housing market. Of course right now, they are not exploiting the unpopular legislation passed by the democrats in the last two years. Instead they are leading the charge against conservative republican winners of some of the primary elections. What is their motive?
