Actually, I do believe that we could have won the war pretty much by ourselves over the long run. Britain hypothetically falls in 43, establishes a government in exile in the US along with Free French, Poles Norwegians etc. We defeat the Japanese in 44 and then go to Europe. Material wise, we were equipping everyone by 43.
Proportional losses means nothing. France and Britain were positioned to stop Hitler right at the beginning when he took the Sudetenland. They watched and did nothing. During Hitlers' attack on Poland, he was strong in the East and weak in the West. At that time he was in no position to fight two fronts but again France and England sat on their butts. During the attack on Poland it was then discovered the flaws in the PKW-IV which was severely undergunned among other things. Coordination between the Luftwaffe and Infantry had not been perfected so that this and material shortfalls were corrected prior to the invasion of France. So, I believe your point of fact is the UK stumbled it's way into both wars, lost a tremendous amount of men and material and were bailed out us.
Almost all the Brits I've known and spoken to were very well versed in their history, and he is old enough to know better. WWI, Britain survived, but as with France and Germany, they were bled white. Had we not intervened, I have no doubt that France, Britain and Germany, all at the end of their ropes would have negotiated a cease fire, then hammered out a peace treaty. Our coming in was enough to invigorate the west and overwhelm Germany. WWII, Britain would have gone under if Roosevelt had not quite illegally violated the Neutrality Act. Prior to hostilities in 1941 we impounded many German vessels, colluded with Britain in their embargo of Germany while at the same time providing England with weapons and at times ourselves engaging in hostilities with Germany. Had Roosevelt complied with the letter of the law, I have no doubt that by 1942 or1942, Britain would have been effectively blockaded to the point where they would have been forced to conclude a peace treaty somewhat as France did, which was Hitlers' actual goal. No war in the west so he could concentrate on the east. Piers is an idiot.
Well, with the help of I believe Polish cryptologists, yes the did break the code first, however, in june 1944 with the capture of U-505, we had not only our own Enigma machine, but copies of all current code books.
Good post. Although according to the good doctor, your PHD sources I guess also believe the earth is flat. (sarc)
In the case of Zeke, Pelosi, Lerner & Holder just to mention a few, 65 years might not be too much of a stretch.
I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God. This is part of the Hippocratic oath. Above all, I must no play at God. If you are a believer, who ultimately determines when you are born, or when you will pass. Obviously, a child in the womb unless there is a miscarriage is not in line for a natural death. So, is she then playing at being God? Personally, I believe that any doctor that performs these is soulless and completely lacking any moral compass and will have much to account for when they to shall pass.

KY Sen: McConnell Expands Lead Over Grimes

Whenever I read a lot of vitriol against a member of the GOP (not saying there are not real RINOs, like Jeffords, Spector or Crist) I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. I picture these folks safe in their anonymity, in their head they have a picture of the perfect conservative that should run in this state or that without ever thinking that the candidates selected typically reflect the views of the electorate. Could Rick Perry successfully run for Governor in Maine or New Jersey?? Oh heck no, just as Chris Christy would never make it in Texas. Do I believe that Sen McConnell has done everything that I would have liked him to do? No, but I believe that he has played the game pretty good with the cards he was dealt. So I suggest folks check their attitudes at their keyboards first, check and recheck voting records and state demographics before sounding foolish. However, there are a few to which this does not apply, lowass for one.
All these dirtbags need to be identified for what they are. Somalis, Chechens, Kenyans, Iraqis etc, people that the dems felt sorry for and allowed to come here. They are no more American than Putin is or any other thug that has visited. The word that they are ignoring is sedition. Sedition is a treasonable offense to which the death penalty can be applied and these fools won't even consider pulling their passports???
As Churchill stated so long ago, "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning". With al-Maliki stepping down and a change of government, just perhaps some of the military leadership that he dismissed has rejoined the military. If so, then the troops we trained will have more confidence and will perform better.
