Jeff Goldstein nails what is at stake.

Gabe at Ace of Spades says Nancy is close but is still behind on the vote count. Intrade numbers went to 85 yesterday and are down 10 points today. Do not give up.

I saw this comment at Riehl World View and I think it is good advice:

It may be a moot point. FDL's latest whip count is 214 no to 208 yes, 215 if the last undecided member of Stupak's bloc, Kathy Dalkemper, goes no (as will certainly happen now), meaning we have 1 just more no vote to KILL THE BILL.

Here are the final true undecideds:
Zack Space
Earl Pomeroy
Solomon Ortiz
Mike Michaud
Bill Foster

Curt Schilling responds to Martha Coakley:

I've been called a lot of things...but never, I mean never, could anyone make the mistake of calling me a Yankee fan. Well, check that, if you didn't know what the hell is going on in your own state maybe you could...

Ouch!

Seriously, this might push Matt Damon and Ben Affleck over the top for Scott Brown.

Bob Munck, are you allowed to go out in the water today on Maui or are they ordering people away from the beaches?
We do save most of our aid for American islands in the Pacific. Guam, Northern Marianas (Saipan, etc.), American Samoa, and of course Hawaii. They get FEMA assistance, SBA loans, etc. Guam for earthquakes and typhoons. Hawaii for typhoons/hurricanes. American Samoa for tsunamis, etc.

We also spend millions keeping island in Micronesia and the Pacific free from foriegn government interference (think ChiComs). Palau, Ponepei, the Marshalls, etc.

Chile actually did give aid to the US after Katrina. There have been two real success stories in South America, Brazil and Chile. It is appropriate for us to help Chile.

Oh Doddy boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From Glenn to Gleen, and down the mountain side
The summer’s gone, and all the flowers are dying
‘Tis you, ’tis you must go and I must bide.

Then come ye ne’er when summer’s in the meadow
But when the valley’s hushed and white with AGW snow
‘Tis I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Doddy boy, oh Doddy boy, I hate you so.

And if you come, the flowers will all be dying
From health care dead, as dead I well may be
You’ll come and find the place where I am lying
And I hope you trip and break your g**damn knee.

And I shall hear, your moans of pain above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you’ll not fail to get out of the...

I am not for supporting boondoggle foriegn aid projects, but when it comes to disaster assistance, we should recognize we do it because it is the right thing to do and it is in our interest to do it. Chile has been a good friend of the United States and is somewhat of a success story in South America. We should assist as is appropriate. It would be foolish not to do so, the Chinese and others will if only to buy influence.

I would rather see that than President Obama waffling over the Falklands (which is far more likely to cause problems rather than resolve them).

An 8.8 mag earthquake is massive, yet Chile is likely far less damaged than Hatii.
