First of all, nowhere in the Constitution is it written that prospective judges must be litigators at big law firms for a certain number of years before they join the bench. All the Constitution says on the subject is this: "The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."

That's it.

So "experience" should be a non-issue here. Plenty of sitting judges previously worked in academia. And the truth is, an appellate judge's work is much closer to a professor's job than it is to a litigator's job.

I'm sorry, Mr. Wilson, but you're simply wrong about Liu. He is not a radical; claiming he is one only undermines your credibility. Yes, his views are left of center, but he’s well within the legal mainstream.

Liu has support from a number of very high-profile conservatives.
