I think Obama understands that our guns are intended as a control on out of control government better than the Republicans do. That's why he needs to get them eliminated. The level of stupidity in the United States is frightening. We are so easy to manipulate at the hands of anyone who is clever enough to understand the embarrassing shortcomings of our once proud country. Short of an intervention by God, I don't see any group with the guts and intellect to save us from ourselves. I believe that we began to be weakened when the left convinced us of the virtues of killing babies by the millions, appreciated the "gay lifestyle" and the silliness of the Bible, when these are the only things that are important. The horrific Newtown, Conn., mass shooting has unleashed a frenzy to pass new gun-control legislation. But the war over restricting firearms is not just between liberals and conservatives; it also pits the first two amendments to the U.S. Constitution against each other.

Apparently, in the sequential thinking of James Madison and the Founding Fathers, the right to free expression and the guarantee to own arms were the two most important personal liberties. But now these two cherished rights seem to be at odds with each other and have caused bitter exchanges between interpreters of the Constitution.
