Any protection you, as an individual receive from the police is a by product of their establishing order in the community. There are several court decisions that make that clear. The only one who has the authority and responsibility for your, your family, and your communities defense is you. The police will be glad to come and keep order afterward and fill out the proper forms, but that will be too late for you.
