Yes David and Solomon had multiple wives and this was not God's plan for marriage. Both of these men were still sinners. But more importantly look at David's devotion to God in both the books of Samuel and the Psalms.

Not sure why there would be any debate about what the bible says. It seems pretty crystal clear from the self-assured statements from the bible-quoting crowd. Any doubt about your own interpretations? Any? Conflicting accounts about the same passages from people speaking with such authority and direct contact with "the Author". Seems odd . . .
