No they aren't. They are human beings who need help. I believe that, given the opportunity, most would welcome being able to work instead of having to apply for assistance. Its a humiliating thing to fill out those forms, especially if you've been taught your whole life to avoid doing so.They are not worthless, they are still people and their lives matter. The Bible even said that when a farmer harvested his grain he was to leave a portion for the sick and the widows and orphans. Jesus said that how we treat the least among us it how we treat Him. Since there isn't enough charity to help all the people that need it, there needs to be a role for the government to play in getting help to those that need it.
