No, it's not gun control if you simply aggressively screen out and deny firearm access to certified criminals and those with mental health issues at the get-go. I think most all gun owners would be okay with that. Unfortunately for PC and feel-good-I-did-something reasons libs want to toss out the baby with the bathwater and demonize and punish legit gun owners.

you CAN'T deny guns to criminals.
they STEAL them, they do not buy them from legal sources.
FEDGOV is "missing" over 1000 of their guns as of 2003,some being full-auto machine guns. that does not include US military arms losses. Then state and local law enforcement have guns stolen from their vehicles frequently. Former Orlando POLICE CHIEF Val Demings had her service handgun stolen from her unmarked SUV,and over a year later,it still hasn't been recovered. OPD has "lost" 2 AR-15 kits, and had 2 machine guns stolen from vehicles.

Tip about tractor theft leads to stolen Army grenades, assault weapon

Alabama police say a tip about a stolen tractor led them to a cache of stolen military hardware, Fox 6 News reported.
The investigation reportedly began last week when police found a stolen tractor at a residence in Glencoe, Ala.
A search of the home found 30 guns, including an assault rifle, as well as grenades and blasting caps stolen from the Anniston Army Depot, according to the station. Spare parts for Stryker military vehicles also were recovered.
According to Fox 6, police suspect the homeowner, Anniston Army Depot employee Ryan Mayo, stole the military items from his workplace.

Why is it that the ONLY rights that can be taken away from citizens are the rights to vote and to own firearms?

Our govt can not even control drugs in prisions. Yet you are sure, that with enough tax payer money to fund a whole new bureaucracy, that will hire thousands of new union members to do background checks on citizens. Then that info is printed in some loons local paper to get even with the gun owners.
This is the same govt that is in charge of voter fraud. It's not fraud if you vote for thier party.

Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the country, not New York City, and has the highest murder rate. In 2013 we've already seen nearly a dozen murders in the Windy City but that isn't stopping MSNBC host Ed Schultz from calling for even more gun control and saying it "hardly exists."

The gun laws and the gun violence in Chicago is a helluva lot different than it is in New York City. There's two different worlds when it comes to gun violence, it's not even close. New York City is not, you know, an all-safe...
