"...Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., called the bill a "reckless attempt to avoid environmental review." The bill would deem the project approved without a presidential permit, as required under current law, and with no further environmental review." Unfortnately for Obama, current law is not what the President dictates, but what the Congress passes. So Obama woud be sworn to uphold that law if it passed both Houses. Just because Obama wants to hold up the pipeline so his crony friends can profit from shipping the oil from Canada to Texas does not constitute a legal position.
Obama can't take a breath without breaking a law. What are you?.....his butt wipe?
While I do vote GOP, I wish this party were more conservative and adhered to the Republic concept more. I think the GOP have strayed from their ideology and needs a correction in course. If more Americans, old and newly converted, would voice their opposition to the liberalizing of the GOP with their votes, this course correction could be achieved. I don't think abandoning the GOP by voting Democrat, Independant or some other party, is the answer. I believe voting on soundly conservative representatives and voting out those that no longer walk the walk is the answer in correcting the GOP course. The power of the vote can be a positive tool if used correctly. Do not use your vote to empower the lesser of two evils, but to transform the evil into good.
The question as to why low income, white Americans vote GOP when the GOP has not promised to alleviate their poverty or offered them government support was asked. It's probably because many white Americans are not looking to government to solve their specific problems. Many poor Americans work every day without one penny of assistance from the government. Unless the government is stealing from them or there are no jobs to be had, they would just as soon handle their own problem with poverty and leave government out of the equation. Most are not looking for a government handout. This expectation of the government or party to address this situation that people find themselves in is exactly why many black Americans are trapped in an endless government program cycle. Why should white, black, red, or yellow Americans expect the government to bail them out of their personal achievements? The only things they should expect from government is a level playing field in the jobs market, a business environment that makes it easier to start a business, education opportunities for their children and honest representatives working to give them opportunity. They should not expect "free stuff" because this leads to dependency on the government and freedom is lost. Opportunity is all that should be expected, so each man or woman can achieve what they may strive for without encumbrance or impediment by the government. Each person lives their lives by fate, hard work and what God has the grace to give them in this life.
This is where the idea comes from that many Americans still hold on to, trying to make a better life for their children. People living in government housing and on government assistance generally have no such hope for their children because big government creates a vicious cycle that low income or no income Americans cannot break free of. Instead of programs that encourage and assist low income parents to better educate their children, assist families to move off government assistance, keep families together and help find meaningful employment for those currently in government projects nothing will ever change. The cycle will forever go unbroken.
I think the answer to your question is freedom from government. Rich or poor, many Americans want less government and more freedom. Sometimes that freedom may leave someone rich and someone poor, but there is always opportunity to break out of a class system and move up. Democrats not only diminish that possibly but they exacerbate it and help keep people down. Many poor Americans, not on government assistance that work everyday do not see themselves as poor, just not as well off as other Americans. They can at least know that anything they have.....they earned it.

More Labor Unions Bail on ObamaCare

Labor unions believe that Obama owes them something. After all they did hawk his health care Bill. They intimidated and twisted arms to get support for his massive program. They are two wolves of the same pack and they both know how to prey on the sheep. The only problem for labor unions is that they have become the hunted.

Labor unions could care less if Obamacare hurts most Americans. They only care about their insurance scams they pawn off onto their membership. You can bet that anything they sell to their members gives a big return to the union bosses. Repeal? Not so important to them, but reform is what they believe they can achieve. Reform being exceptions for their unions being included in the bill's mandatory participation and everyone else can go to hell. They want Obama to carve out special wavers for them.
All that I'll say is "What happened to Obama's drone power?". Can't he put them on his "Hit List"?

Solid advice Kurt.
This is much more serious that Watergate. That corruption did not involve the use of government agencies to commit illegalities. Obama is yielding his Presidential powers to use government agencies for his personal benefit. This more closely resembles J. Edger Hoover's time at the head of the FBI. Hoover used his agency's power to empower himself and retain his position there. Had Hoover not had control of a government agency that could also protect him from prosecution, through intimidation and blackmail, he would have been in jail in his latter years.
