There is no reason a restroom be any different than a typical bathroom in a private residence. Our bathroom has a single toilet and restrooms would work just as well with toilets. Urinals are just more open and public. I have not seen a marriage license in any of the nine states which allow same sex marriage, but I doubt if gender is much of an issue. I do agree with your point 2).
