So Derek, what ever happened to those guys in the south that had a D after their name and suppressed minority voting with lynchings and Jim Crow laws? Oh that's right, after the 1965 Civil Rights act passed, they changed the D to an R and found other ways to suppress minority voting rights like ... demanding voter ID cards or purging voter registration rolls! And now you wonder why so many blacks left the party of Lincoln?

Jim nice bit of revisionist history. Bull Connor, George Wallace, etc remained democrats throughout their lives. Republicans didn't make real in-roads in the South until the 1980 election with Reagan getting the Reagan Democrats that became Republicans for the ideas of smaller gov't and lower taxes.

Wanting to obey the laws is not suppressing the vote especially I never felt that my vote was being suppressed because I needed to have a picture ID to vote or proof of my residence.

Sometimes, no matter how well you articulate your point, there will be boneheads out there who will choose not to look beyond the end of their "progressive(?)" noses.

Horsehockey...we send our troops to foreign lands to ensure people can proudly hold up a purple finger, yet we can't seem to get a clean election at home..Anyone who objects to picture ID's has a propensity to cheat..PERIOD.

Good point, in the Iraqi elections they tried to get out as many voters as possible which doesn't work quite as well if you demand a photo ID from everyone along with designating a committee to purge the names of voters. Why not do the same here, anyone of voting age would be allowed to vote only having to dip their finger in ink afterwards? The real problem in the US isn't voter fraud, it is voter turnout with only 63% turning out for presidential elections and 48% for off year elections. That is 30-60 million votes just sitting at home!

Please send this to all NAACP and Congressional Black Caucus supporters. It will confirm all that they know to be true. Jim is an expert and knows everything he says is true and he knows that the willing supporters will never doubt him and check things for themselves.

We need to create truth so that racism can be perpetuated, otherwise the above named groups will lose support and funding. An unemployed revolutionary is a sad thing to see. They have no skills for the real world.

Yes, yes like photo ID's are SO difficult to secure. Even the Democratic Party in Mass requires photo ID's to enter their convention. Voter rolls? You the dead people swho continue to vote for the Dems. Racism doesn't mean anything anymore...the Dems have overplayed this card...get over it and grow up.

We have record of votes for our community organizer that were more numerous in one district than registered voters, votes for him by dead people and illegal aliens (criminal invaders), and that is fine with groups like Acorn.
They remind me of a very old movie called 'The Blob', because, when blown up, they simply became little bits that continued the destruction and disgusting behavior.
But I do recall the hysteria of the Left, that led to the 'hanging chads' comedy.
Things are different when the shoe is on the other foot.

Not quite. Check out, e.g., the long career of KKK recruiter Robert Byrd "the conscience of the Democrat party." Still waiting for a plausible reason why voter IDs or purging dead people off voter registration rolls "suppresses minority voting rights" unless that's code for fraud by Dim politicial bosses. Btw, it was the Republicans that voted for the 1965 Civil Rights Act. The movement was kicked off by Republican Eisenhower's support for the 1957 Civil Rights Act (eventually watered down by LBJ and the Dims - no surprise).

The Dems didn't need the Repubs to pass or fail the 1965 Civil Rights act, they controlled the House 282-146 and the Senate 68-32 ... they could have passed or failed it on a straight party line vote!

More talking point regurgitation by a libdrool. Try researching things before you spew. In the 26 major civil rights votes after 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.

In February 2009, Attorney General Eric Holder said America is a “nation of cowards” on race because we don’t talk about. So let’s talk about it.

Voter ID

Progressives are up in arms over the prospect of voters being required to show something at the polls they must show regularly to function as a productive member of society – a photo ID. It’s because progressives, particularly progressive Democrats, have a vested interest in preventing as many people as possible, especially minorities, from becoming productive members of society.

Productive members of society – and those who aspire to be – don’t need...
