The Real Crash

On target? He lays all the blame on government while leaving out the role that Banks and Wall St had to do with what happened. Hoover didn't cause the Great Depression, it was from runaway speculation on Wall St that stock prices would always go up and up. Rather then learn from this, Citicorp convinced congress to get rid of 70 year old restrictions in 1999 so that Banks could gamble on Wall St again! Yet Hoover did make it worse by tightening the government pocket books and paying off debt while at the same time passing restrictive tariff laws that just about brought world trade to a halt. So Bush/McCain could have done the same in 2008 and let capitalism work but would anyone be happy to now be in the 4th year of another depression?
Really Maggie, you couldn't have rewrote this sentence? "Elites are running from marriage -- with one HUGE and notable exception: Rush Limbaugh." And why would you even use Rush as an example of the sanctity of marriage ... because he has been willing to try it 3 times so far?
So essentially you are removing various items from charts until you can show that Obama's also a prolificate spender? Of course in your last chart if you remove the outlays for TARP ... then shouldn't you also remove the outlays for the stimulus package since there would be no need for it? Thus moving Obama closer to the top of the list again?
Yea and lets not forget the sacrifices Bush made, like giving up golf! "I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," Bush said in a White House interview with the Politico. "I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

Yea that is the big problem in believing between what is real Ann. Government and mother nature have both positive and negative feedback that you can actually feel and witness when you choose the right or wrong thing to do while religion ... well you just have to wait until you die to see if you picked the correct invisible sky god!

But an angel gave them golden tablets that could be deciphered with a magic stone at the bottom of a hat ... sounds like a pretty logical belief system?

So you find it an acceptable form of brainwashing and you would have no problem with one as your leader?

Would you be happier if the US was still shedding jobs, unemployment was at 16%, GM and Chysler went bankrupt with the DOW hovering under 6000?
Let's see, we had a housing boom that drove the DOW up to 14,000 while at the same time with the concurrent building boom ... driving unemployment down to 5%. And you for some reason believe that is what we need again ... rather then a slow and steady increase in the economy, we need to find the next boom and bust?

Should Black People Tolerate This?

Google the Lily White movement ... see for yourself why blacks abandoned the party of Lincoln and turned to the democrats. Up until 1965 and the Civil Rights act,the south was a consistent voting block of the democrats ... the south then looked for a party that agreed with their beliefs and they found it.
Pot, meet kettle ... In Reagan's 1982 State of the Union, he went after Carter for blame plenty of times: "To understand the State of the Union, we must look not only at where we are and where we're going but where we've been. The situation at this time last year was truly ominous." By 1983 when unemployment was at 10.7% his State of the Union: "The problems we inherited were far worse than most inside and out of government had expected; the recession was deeper than most inside and out of government had predicted. Curing those problems has taken more time and a higher toll than any of us wanted."
