Thanks for the Gun, Stupid

Great article, John. As always, you've again, hit the nail on the head. I've found over the years, there are two motivating forces of people: POWER AND MONEY. The monkey boy seems to want both, all in one fell swoop. Gun Control, or as they sometimes call it, assault weapons ban will soon be tied to increases in spending to buy more votes, and of course, higher taxes on EVERYBODY. Along with the bans comes more money, and thus he achieves his goal, POWER AND MONEY, and thus more control. I still say, the guy is a Trojan Horse, and has no business here in our country in the first place. The Second Amendment has special meaning to never allow this aforementioned to occur, NEVER GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS CONTAINED IN THE SECOND AMENDMENT!

The Second Amendment is about bearing arms in a militia. Or maybe all those words have been changed from their origional meaning and intent. Like who oversees the regulation of the militia? BTW what are arms?

Please tell me you are not a high school graduate. Please tell me your idea of reading is a graphic novel. Otherwise, it's time to shut down schools and start over.

No one "oversees" a militia. That is the point.
Who oversees people who have no point and instead look like an idiot arguing over semantics. You might as well type "I am stupid". We get it.

No, hmiller, the Second Amendment is about having a armed citizenry from which a militia can be formed. Learn to read.
Historically, the militia, once formed, elected its officers.
Arms are the weapons the armed citizens use in the militia.

Precisely correct and in order to be in a militia, you need to have your own arms(U.S. militia act of 1792). Who governs the militia? We The People govern the militia and in times of energency, the state and federal government can "call up the militia" in a manner proscribed by law. If me and my neighbors organize ourselves into an armed neighborhood patrol in times of an emergency such as a natural disaster or civil un-rest, are we a militia? YES we are. Is the National Guard the militia? No they are not as they are organized and equipped by the government and serve as a secondary reserve force. As to "Arms", Webster's dictionary defines arms as weapons. Thus to arm yourself is to equip yourself with a weapon.

And as we all know, guns ARE weapons, so yes, the 2nd amendment protects our right to possess and carry guns as well as other types of weapons and NO that does not include things like tanks, artillery and nuclear bombs.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.

Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!

It's time to speak loud before they try to silence and disarm us.
You're not imagining it, history shows that governments always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people~

Great post today, Joesolis. I love it when gun control advocates state the 2nd Amendment was framed at a time when everyone had muskets only--meaning that the framers could not have foreseen firearms development we have today. They will invariably ask you where in the 2nd Amendment does it say you can own semi-auto rifles with large capacity magazines. I always tell them...its right there in the 2nd Amendment...right next to the section on muskets. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.

A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves...and include all men capable of bearing arms." (Richard Henry Lee, Additional Letters from the Federal Farmer (1788) at 169)

"What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty.... Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins." (Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, spoken during floor debate over the Second Amendment [ I Annals of Congress at 750 {August 17, 1789}])
Now YOU know and can tell your friends that you actually learned something today....see what a great site this is?

Nazi armies did not invade Switzerland because it was known that the armed Swiss would resist them.

So I’m reading this email teaser from National Journal’s Influence Alley called Spending Cuts Added to Plan B that says: “In a bid to win more support for Republican House Speaker John Boehner's Plan B to cut taxes for everyone but millionaires, GOP leaders are adding a second bill that would reduce the deficit and avoid the sequester, a GOP leadership aide told the Alley.”

So first I’m thinking “What tax cut?” Doesn’t a tax cut necessitate some sort of tax “cutting” action? The net result of the proposal is to increase taxes for some. If these guys worked on Wall...
