You got it! Conservatives should scrutinize GOP candidates' promises in Iowa with a microscope, and then govern ourselves accordingly when voting in our own primaries,

The sugar tariff has to be the worst. The sugar tariff forces US consumers to pay way over world sugar prices to buy domestic sugar. Why do you think Coke and Pepsi use high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar in their US products, but use sugar everywhere else? Most US domestic cane sugar production is grown on environmentally sensitive lands in the Everglades. Congress forces US consumers to pay more for sugar to subsidize an industry that damages the environment. Then Congress turns around and offers billions of dollars to buy the lands on which sugar cane is grown. If Congress only ended the sugar tariff, domestic sugar prices would immediately drop significantly, Everglades sugar cane farms would declare bankruptcy, and the...

You have to love the federal government! My dad worked for the Cooperative Extension Service whose objective was to help farmers grow larger and better crops. Next door to my dad's office was the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service which paid farmers to grow smaller crops or, even better, crops not at all. At the same time taxpayers paid federal functionaries to increase agricultural production, we also pay other functionaries to decrease agricultural production. Only in America!
Is that the best you can do? Millions of morons are "successful" lawyers and most of them are judges.
I can respect an honest and polite liberal (if one can find one). But moderates have no discernible principles beyond self-service. Clinton (Bill) put so-called "moderate" politicians' principles in stark perspective when Clinton excused Robert Byrd's KKK past on the grounds that Byrd's leadership role in the KKK was necessary for Byrd to get elected. In other words, getting elected is a higher principle to Clinton's mind than eschewing the KKK. There are no principles when getting elected is the "Prime Directive." At least on Star Trek, the fictional Prime Directive always succumbed (or "succame") to common sense.

You are so wrong! Citizens United says corporations are entitled to First Amendment rights (Like the New York Times INC. in Times v. Sullivan). It also says political contributions are political expression under the First Amendment. DUH!
I initially found this article encouraging that the GOP might become more attractive to younger voters. Until I recalled my on youth, that is. When I was young (too) many years ago, I did not perceive much difference between someone who was 55 and someone who was 60. And not so much between someone 40 and someone 60. I considered my dad, who was 47 when I graduated from high school, pretty much the same age as my biology teacher, who was then 62 (and who died last year at the age of 100 so I could figure out how old he was when I was in high school). So I don't get too excited about this age differential between Republicans and Democrats. Mr. Barone is right on point about one thing, however. The older generation has a fixation on...
Obama could certainly put his hands on a copy of Hawaii's equivalent to my Certificate of Live Birth that was filed with the state of Georgia upon my birth. Mine has my name, my parents' names, ages, sexes, race, occupations, and address. It states the date, time, and place of my birth. It is signed by the obstetrician who delivered me and by two nurses who witnessed my birth. If ever it became in the least bit important that I establish that I was born in the United States, I'd rush to produce my Certificate of Live Birth. I can only speculate why Obama hasn't rushed to produce his, so I will. There's something on it Obama doesn't want people to see. Considering the attitudes of the time at which Obama was born, I speculate that...
"Learning?" What makes you write "learning?" Obama is too arrogant to be "learning." Obama is a total elitest snob with a tin ear incapable of learning anything (he already knows everythiing there is to know!).
Let's see. The average unemployment rate on Bush;s watch? Six percent. The average unemployment rate on Obama's? Almost ten percent. And it's much, much higher than Obama's "official" unemployment rate. Olive, what the hell did you do during your first two years in office as a job killer? Olive, you need to resign from whatever office you have and NOW! You are a threat to our country!
