Pat you are just wrong. Democrat party passed taxes and a new law at the time to re-tax over seas revenue instead of our companies able to bring back their money. Also union strikes that made business not welcome and the stupidest of all high minim wage laws.

Government should not tell citizens what or what not they can put in their bodies. After the civil war they determined that twenty percent of the population could be come addicted when all manor of drugs could be consumed. Of that percent only a small number were using at any one time. Life in prison is much worse then not going to work.
The tax debate could be settled immediately by not funding any of the departments,. The end. No Senate approval needed since no tax can be started out of the House.

Failure: Unions in America Today

Derek you have swallowed bad history from your childhood, at no point were the unions responsible for better working conditions. all "a lot of workers encountered awful and dangerous conditions on the job" increases of safety were under taken by private business before the unions woke up. i.e. Ford and US Steel, remember true free markets depend on both employer and employee freedom of movement. At the 1890's to date unions are gangs and always lawless except when a government illegal actions legal like strikes and blocking business.
