Why God Isn't Doing Well These Days

Radical Muslims' evil is not done in the name of God, but of Allah. "Allah" is not "God"…to Muslims, thus to me. Allah is an entirely separate deity.

Economic Lunacy

Baltimore has been flattening for quite a while.
"Even if it could be proven that judges who make rulings that go counter to the written law produce better results in those particular cases than following the letter of the law would have, that does not make society better off." Indeed, who would make that determination, and at whose expense? Plus, if worse results were produced, what mechanism would there be to overturn the flawed ruling? Look at the Kelo case. The basis was that more tax revenue would (should?) be generated. It didn't happen. Are they going to rebuild the lady's house and install her back in it?
What was California's financial condition when Reagan became governor? I recall that the state was losing a million dollars a day. After Reagan beat Gov. Moonbeam's dad, he went to Sacramento and imposed…Reaganism. So, what effect did Reaganism have on California's financial situation?

One front in the war against statists is control of the rhetoric, and an example of that is the term "reconciliation."

"Reconciliation" is insufficiently vague, in that its context and purpose are left out.

The full term, correctly used by Dr. Krauthammer in his piece, in "budget reconciliation."

Every time.

Voyeurism Dressed As a Public Service

"…Americans have veered awfully close to treating illness as a character flaw."

Ms. Charen, meet Mr. Will who, in "A Cure for Character," writes:
"…confusion can flow…from the notion that deviations from normality should be considered "disorders" to be "cured," rather than stigmatized as offenses against valid moral norms"[character flaws].

So, what is character becoming?

Yesterday, on Morning Joe, Mike Barnicle said,

"I never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but government has gotten way too big."

So-o-o-o…starting to sink in, eh?
Burning wood is an excellent heat source, if it is done correctly. I have used a Masonry Heater to heat my home for a decade, and it works beautifully…hot fire, closed firebox, vented to the outside, full combustion, almost no harmful emissions…and the fuel source is renewable.

Masonry Heaters are not for couch potatoes. The sawing, splitting, and stacking of the wood also form an important part of my exercise regime.

Those who have access to a supply of free or cheap wood should consider a Masonry Heater for heating in winter.

Facing Up to a Pension Crisis

"An independent analysis of California's three big pension funds has found a hidden shortfall of more than half a trillion dollars…"

Is anyone asking who hid it, and how?
Sammy Davis, Jr makes my top 10 list of all-time greatest male voices in pop music. Michael Jackson does not.

My #1, Brook Benton, is also from Davis's era.
