There cannot be a greater admirer of Thomas Sowell than I am. I proudly own and frequently quote his books. However, for once I have to offer a correction to something he says - that thousands of Germans sheltered Jews during WW2. I really don't think that is true. As far as I could discover, the number of Germans (in Germany) who saved, or even tried to save, the lives of Jews could be counted on the fingers of your two hands without touching all of them.

Very good article. Thank you, Cliff May. But a comment on the last line: The fate of the Palestinians is as it has always been in the hands of the Arab leaders. They decided to keep the "refugees" in a state of misery as a reproach to Israel and the Western powers. Only if they decide that Israel may exist in peace wlll the Palestinians be able to negotiate for peace and a (second) Arab state in the Palestine region.

Very nice article. But if ever the Jews relied on "the kindness of strangers" they were certainly disappointed. Relentless persecution by strangers in strange lands was the fate of the Jews, who have contributed so much to mankind, out of all proportion to their number.
