The new film WON’T BACK DOWN earned disappointing box-office results in its opening weekend in theatres, despite great performances by Maggie Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis and Holly Hunter, compelling characterizations, and a touching, inspiring story.

Based on real-life struggles of parents and teachers to challenge arrogant teachers unions and to take over failing schools, the richly emotional film suffered from many politically biased and deeply unfair reviews. Several critics admitted they felt offended by the perceived “anti-union” slant of the film – despite efforts by producers to portray even union leaders as sympathetic and mostly honorable.
